It’s My Park Day
March 7, 2026 • 9am - Noon
Plan to join Austin Parks Foundation’s volunteer-driven work day to beautify neighborhood parks and green spaces across Austin — and, for Hyde Park, that means putting a shine on Shipe Park.
“It’s our designated time to care for Shipe’s trees and landscaping, spruce up the playground, and clean up the section of Waller Creek anchoring the park,” said Adam Wilson, longtime member of Friends of Shipe Park, which co-sponsors the local cleanup with the Parks Foundation.
“Shipe is where we swim, shoot baskets, push children in swings, walk our dogs, share a movie night, or just hang out with friends. It is our outdoor living room where band members serenade us on Tuesday nights. I’d encourage all of us to spend some time on March 7th providing necessary landscape maintenance at Shipe Park for the year ahead,” Wilson said.
Register To Help Out
Volunteers are required to register on the city’s designated site: https://austinparks.givepulse.com/event/823464-its-my-park-day-shipe-park.
Participants should gather at the park between 9 am and noon. Bring your work clothes, sun protection, and water bottle.
Tools will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own. More work gloves, wheelbarrows, rakes, garden forks, and shovels are always welcome — but please label with your name to make sure they end up going home with you!
Friends of Shipe Park are deeply grateful to Sam Archer and Juice Realty for once again serving as primary sponsor of It’s My Park Day. Another valued sponsor is Fairweather CiderCompany.
Sponsors help underwrite purchase of landscaping supplies as well as musical entertainment by community brass band Blowcomotion.
Bring A Can, Help Hope Food Pantry
Shipe Park champion Jill Nokes said, “This year, for the first time, we are also asking interested people to bring canned food for Hope Food Pantry.”
